Dr. Christopher Finnell is a bariatric surgeon at United Regional Physician Group.
Dr. Finnell grew up in Holliday, Texas, and is an honors graduate of Midwestern State University. He completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Following an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Dr. Finnell completed a fellowship in laparoscopic gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, where he focused on minimally invasive surgery.
He chose bariatric surgery to help solve one of the biggest health problems in the country: obesity. He was determined to find solutions for his patients. Dr. Finnell became interested in bariatric surgery early in his medical education after witnessing many people suffering from the consequences of obesity.
Dr. Finnell has been actively practicing bariatric and general surgery in Wichita Falls since 2008. He has performed hundreds of bariatric surgeries and is the director of United Regional’s bariatric center, which is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. Dr. Finnell is also an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Finnell enjoys his career because it’s very rewarding to witness miraculous transformations as a bariatric surgeon. He is dedicated to improving the lives of his patients, is compassionate, and works to deliver excellence and the highest quality of care. Dr. Finnell offers various weight loss solutions so that he and each patient can develop an individualized plan for success.
Dr. Finnell is married to his wife and has three children. His wife is a pediatrician, and they both share a passion of helping people. Outside of work, the Finnells enjoy hiking, fishing, and going to sporting events. Dr. Finnell loves reading books, especially old ones. He appreciates a healthy, active lifestyle, and puts focus on exercise and weightlifting.
