Dr. Erin Shiner, rheumatologist at United Regional Physician Group, is dedicated to helping people keep their bodies in motion because everyone deserves to enjoy their daily activities. She treats autoimmune and inflammatory disorders of the joints and connective tissues, and helps restore her patients’ mobility and quality of life.
Dr. Shiner graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas before earning a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Immunology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Dr. Shiner completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The complexities of the immune system fascinate Dr. Shiner. Since she was a kid, Dr. Shiner wanted to become a doctor. As she went through medical school, she felt a natural calling to rheumatology. Dr. Shiner treats patients with inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis and other rare autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma, lupus and inflammatory myositis. In rheumatology, the diagnosis is not always clear, so Dr. Shiner works diligently to investigate her patients’ conditions through lab work or imaging to see how they respond to various types of treatments.
Dr. Shiner seeks to transform the lives of her patients who experience chronic conditions by identifying the underlying causes and determining the best treatment plan. Under Dr. Shiner’s care, patients can be assured they have a physician who will go the extra mile to improve their quality of life.
Dr. Shiner was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, then moved to North Carolina for her residency and fellowship. After graduation, she felt called to return home to Texas. Outside of work, Dr. Shiner enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, being outdoors, lying by the pool, and hanging out with her creative, artistic children.
