Dr. Etem Chu is an obstetrician/gynecologist at United Regional Physician Group who strives to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for her patients.
She obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed her internship and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Austin.
Before medical school, Dr. Chu had aspirations of becoming an oncologist. It was during her clinical rotations that she quickly discovered her passion for primary care and surgery; once she delivered her first baby into the world, she knew her place was in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Chu is grateful she gets to be a part of the process of comforting and celebrating with the people she treats.
When she completed her residency, she desired to find a place close to her family in McAllen and determined Wichita Falls was where she wanted to start her practice. Dr. Chu immediately developed a strong connection with United Regional and its staff, and quickly Wichita Falls became home.
Dr. Chu enjoys the challenges each new day brings. Her ultimate satisfaction in her job is experiencing life with people on a daily basis. She credits the people she works with for making United Regional a safe and warm place for all people who walk through the doors. She is energetic and determined to provide the best care for her patients, as well as making them feel cared for in every aspect of their wellbeing.
Dr. Chu met her husband after moving to Wichita Falls, and they bonded over being born in the same West African country. He is a licensed professional counselor and pastor of a church. Together, they are raising two beautiful children. On Dr. Chu’s days off, she spends time helping her husband with ministry-related duties. She likes to cook, read, and socialize with the people close to her. She values those relationships, as well as others she has come to know in the community.
