Dr. Jeffrey Swanson is a family medicine physician at United Regional Physician Group who is dedicated to guiding his patients along their medical journey. He builds relationships with the people he treats and counsels his patients through the factors affecting their health and wellbeing.
Dr. Swanson obtained his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, then went on to complete his internship and residency in family practice at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York. After graduation, Dr. Swanson joined the Air Force for four years and was stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. While there, his work consisted of home visits for people with Medicare. He also gained experience in rural medicine at a hospital and skilled nursing center. He then moved to Wichita Falls.
Raised in a large family with seven siblings, visiting the doctor was familiar to Dr. Swanson. He had a consistent doctor who provided care to his entire family throughout their adult life. Through that exposure, Dr. Swanson looked up to physicians and decided he wanted to practice medicine. He credits his experience in the Air Force for the opportunity to learn how the civilian side of medicine works, along with how effective the military was with the types of care they provided to their active duty members. He valued the experience to receive first-hand knowledge of medical care in a military environment when he was deployed.
Dr. Swanson values his team – his nurse and medical assistant – and believes it is important to have great communication in order to guide our community to good health. His character creates a warm, comforting environment for his patients, making them feel at ease and a part of the team. “I want them to feel open and be able to talk to me about their concerns. That way I’m more effective as a physician.”
While in medical school, Dr. Swanson met his wife, Dr. Olga Tezaguic, who was born and raised in Wichita Falls. They love spending time with their dog, Arrow. Outside of work, the two enjoy traveling to new places in the small plane they own.
