Sylvia Payton is a family nurse practitioner specializing in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
She attended a local nursing school and worked as a recovery room nurse for 15 years. Following that, she attended Chamberlain University to begin her career as a family nurse practitioner specializing in orthopedic surgery. She has been practicing at United Regional since 2003.
Since she was a child, Payton was aware of her fascination for medicine and knew she had a heart for helping those around her in whatever capacity she could. She works closely with Dr. Michael Sheen in the clinic and in surgeries. Her role consists of determining the medical problems that patients experience and guiding them to comfort.
Payton is committed to long-term impact care. Her hospitable and kind personality offers a comfortable and safe space for individuals. Hers is the smiling face patients see before and after surgery. And the best part of her job? “When they tell me it doesn’t hurt anymore and they’re glad they had this procedure done,” she says. “I love telling them that they can go back to doing the things that they want to do — to live their life.”
Born and raised in Wichita Falls. Payton spends her free time being present with her family. She has been married to her husband since 1998, and they are parents to four children. She enjoys traveling with her family and having new experiences. They take time to go to new places whenever they get the chance. During her spare time, she enjoys watching the extraordinary TV show Stranger Things.
Payton strives every day to bring the best care to her patients. With Wichita Falls being home to her friends and family, she is motivated to provide a high level of care and comfort. She works with a determined mission to bring people an exceptional experience and will go above and beyond to make sure that happens.
